#AMEN -Jimm Harisson Project & Vriende (Afrikaans)

On a cold winters evening in June, 2018 Jimm Harisson (Jan-Hendrik Fourie) received a call from Rene Venter, member of the talented acapella group, 8 Misses Croon. Rene told me that they were planning a benefit concert for the #CureForKeanu fund and asked whether he would like to be part of it. Both 8 Misses Croon and Jimm Harisson worked together for a month to put together the production which would eventually take place on the 28th of July 2018 at Reddam House, Durbanville.

The performance managed to raise about R20 000 in funds for Keanu’s treatment and helped to promote the awareness of children suffering from cancer. The initiative really touched Jan-Hendrik so much that he wrote a song called Amen, to raise further awareness of children suffering from life threatening illnesses and bodily harm. The lyrics of the song touches on poverty, humanity, gratitude and helping our the future generation fight for a better life.

About a year later, Jimm Harisson Project decided to record the single, AMEN. During this process, the band decided to invite a few of their friends to join. First, 8 Misses Croon were contacted and agreed to be part of the single without any hesitation. ‘Glaskas’ leadman, Deon Meiring, Bok Radio’s Almarie Du Preez, Gerry Liberty and Mark Haze all confirmed their participation. One of South Africa’s legendary producers, Werner Beukes, also decided to offer his services for the single and eventually had ‘Dorp Toe’ singer, Fatman also join. We finally formed a group of 7 amazingly talented singers on one video, singing for one communal cause.

During July 2019, all the parties involved did their voice recordings to have the track completed by the 20th of July for the shooting of the music video. All artist had to challenge the stormy Cape Town wheather and meet at Roodebloem Studios in Woodstock. After a quick cup of coffee and some homemade muffins, everyone moved to their position as we only had 3 hours to shoot!
